My client was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
My client had been involved in a minor altercation with another individual. After that minor issue had concluded the listed victim placed his hands on my client not once but twice. He would not let her get into her car without him hovering over her. Finally, she attempted to get into her car and he slammed her car door into her leg. She got out immediately and defended herself with a pocket knife she had for protection. She cut him once. The police did an inadequate investigation and arrested her for stabbing his forearm in self-defense.
The state attorney's office would not drop the case and offer over 4 years in prison!!!
After a three-day trial, the jury returned a not-guilty verdict in less than an hour.
After the trial, the jury, defense team, defendant, and the state prosecutor discussed the case for a while and they all said she had every right to defend herself.

At a scene of a fatal traffic accident, the police charge the client with careless driving resulting in a fatality. After trial, the Judge ruled that the State did not present enough evidence to support a conviction.
